The basics of dungeon play in Arad are pretty straight forward. (A) You need to clear a dungeon room before being able to advance to adjacent rooms. (B) You need to kill the boss monster to complete a dungeon. (C) Completing a dungeon gives you experience, which allows you to level up. But there is more to dungeons than leveling up! Make sure you leave no stone unturned—and it's very likely you'll find that even greater rewards await.

One way to make dungeons even more thrilling is to play them again at a higher difficulty level. Monsters have more HP and greater evasion rates, but you will reap more EXP as you venture through them.

Be warned! Even advanced characters will have trouble clearing a dungeon on King's Road alone. It may be necessary to form a party of up to four other Dungeon Fighters to tackle dungeons at the highest difficulty. You'll have more fun, finish the dungeon quicker, and enjoy the bonus EXP that party play yields.

So, how is your rank grade calculated? Well, let's breakdown the Results screen that appears after you've completed a dungeon. Your stats fall into three main categories: Style, Technique and Hits. For Style and Technique, the higher your number, the better your rank. For Hits, it is the opposite; the lower your hit count, the better your rank.

The names of each of these Champion Monsters indicate what attributes they may possess, additional buffs that can enhance Movement Speed, Attack Speed, HP Recovery Speed, Physical Defense, Elemental Resistance, Hit Recovery, Quick Rebound, and Launch Invulnerability.

By the way, have you seen Alex in Behemoth, who appears as a Champion Monster with enhanced Attack Speed and Launch Invulnerability? He has Super Armor and he attacks very fast (and with some unique abilities). As if that wasn't enough, he is not affected by attacks that would otherwise launch enemies into the air!

Various objects are scattered throughout the DFO dungeons. Some of these will give you buffs or boost your HP and MP, but unfortunately, these objects aren't always benevolent. Sometime you might have the bad luck of cracking open a barrel trigger with a poison burst, or one in which an enemy is eagerly hoping you come by to let him out. Needless to say, you really won't know what's inside until you take a chance and break open a receptacle!
